Adult diapers to outsell baby diapers in Japan by 2020
In several publications including the New York Post, adult diapers will soon outsell baby diapers in the Japanese diaper market. Projected by the year 2020 and where 65 years and older make up more than 20% of the population.
Japan has one of the fastest-aging populations in the industrialized world and there are concerns about how elderly citizens relying on care will be be cared for in the years ahead.
Quartz.com says the adult diaper market is growing by up to 10 percent year-on-year and rakes in $1.4 billion per year – adult incontinence products can go for as much as two and half times the price of typical baby diapers.
